FAQs
1. What Supply Teacher jobs are available in Dunstable?
T4Teachers recruits Supply Teachers for a variety of assignments across Dunstable, including day-to-day classroom cover, short-term absences, maternity cover, recurring bookings, and longer-term teaching placements. Opportunities may be available within primary, secondary, and specialist education settings, depending on your qualifications and experience.
2. How much can I earn as a Supply Teacher in Dunstable?
Supply Teachers working through T4Teachers can earn between £130 and £250 per day, depending on their qualifications, teaching experience, and the responsibilities associated with each assignment. Pay rates can vary between individual supply days and longer-term teaching positions.
3. Can I choose which days I work as a Supply Teacher?
Yes. One of the main advantages of supply teaching is the flexibility it provides. You can let T4Teachers know which days you’re available, allowing our recruitment team to identify suitable teaching assignments around your schedule. This can be particularly beneficial if you’re looking to balance teaching with family commitments, further study, or other responsibilities.
4. Can Early Career Teachers apply for Supply Teacher jobs in Dunstable?
Yes. T4Teachers welcomes applications from Early Career Teachers as well as experienced educators. Supply teaching can be an excellent way for ECTs to gain valuable classroom experience, develop confidence, and become familiar with different school environments. It can also help you identify the types of schools and year groups you’d prefer to work with in the future.
5. Do I need Qualified Teacher Status to become a Supply Teacher?
Most qualified Supply Teacher positions require UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification. Candidates without QTS may be more suited to alternative education roles, such as Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant positions, depending on their experience and qualifications.
6. Will lesson plans be provided for supply teaching assignments?
For many day-to-day supply assignments, schools will provide lesson plans and classroom resources for you to follow. Your main responsibility will be to deliver the work provided, maintain positive classroom behaviour, and ensure pupils continue learning during their regular teacher’s absence. Longer-term assignments may involve additional planning, marking, and assessment responsibilities.
7. Will I work at the same school every day?
Not necessarily. Day-to-day supply teaching can involve working across different schools in Dunstable and nearby areas, including Houghton Regis, Luton, and surrounding Bedfordshire communities. However, schools may request teachers they’ve worked successfully with previously, which can lead to repeat bookings and more consistent assignments.

To apply, simply send T4Teachers your CV along with details of your qualifications, teaching experience, preferred key stages or subjects, and availability.
